"This one with me standing next to the sign that says NOVO MESTO
was taken in June of 1968, in Yugoslavia, the summer before I started Webster.
I figure folks deserve to get to see me as a freshman (or thereabouts).
The night after this, having hitched at that spot for a day and a half
unsuccessfully, we hiked off into the woods and were taken into custody
by the Yugoslav armed forces for trying to camp on the outskirts of a military
base. Fortunately that interrogation lasted only a few hours and
we then had to walk miles in the rain, late at night, to find a campground." |
"The picture of me with the 50 on my face was taken at my fiftieth
birthday party on 01/08/2000."
