David Kilper and friends...
"My name is David Kilper, BFA '73. While I spent only an all
too brief two years at Webster, my memories from there are still vivid.
I was an "older" student, having started college in 1965, somewhat reserved,
and never lived on campus. I never connected with the
student community as fully as I would have liked. But there were
students who did have a lasting affect on me. Two of whom, Helen
Butterfield and Valerie Mack, were among only a few I turned my camera
toward. I regret now that I did not take more photos of my fellow
students. They were certainly a flamboyant group! So,
I'm sending 3 images--Helen, Valerie, and with apologies, a mug of myself.
(there just isn't anything of me from that era). Regards, David" |

Mom and Pop Parrino

"It's a funny thing, but while attending Webster I use
to make many trips back and forth to Jersey to visit with my parents, dragging
along anyone who wanted to come. I also had a few parties with some of
my Webby friends at their home over summer vacations. They would welcome
all my friends with open arms, quite the gracious hosts...a very loving
couple that I was graced with as parents.
While at Webster I always told everyone they were welcome
to come visit me at home, "my parents home" anytime and naturally being
the wanderers we are many took heart with my invitation.
However, as many of you know I left Webster in '71
and set my sights at Berklee in Boston. The funny part about this is my
friends came to visit.... and I wasn't there. My parents would welcome
them to stay the night, ...the weekend, ...the week, ...once a whole month.
I never even knew who some who came to visit were. My Mom would say...Oh
Sal, one of your friends dropped by last weekend...never mentioning
it was someone from Webster...| would take it as if it was one of my local
buddies I saw all the time...
Yesterday, I was visiting my parents and my mom tells
me they have a few letters for me. I thought, since I'm named after
my Dad, someone sent me mail to there address by mistake. It turns
out to be a couple of letter of thanks for their hospitality. One
from Doris Greenwell and another from Sunny Lucas, ...Webby friends.
I had miss both of there visits but apparently a good time was had by all.
The amazing thing was my Mom and Dad had kept these letters these 30 some
odd years.
My parents reminisced for hours about the visits from
some of my friends like Doris & Sunny, Tim Gallagher & Al Santos,
and many others. They enjoyed those visits....they cherished them....and
they wanted me to let you know they think about you often and smile. "
